Privacy Policy

How Brilliant Bariatrics Pty Ltd, trading as The Weight Management Centre (TWMC), collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information.

Effective 10 June 2026

1. Our commitment

TWMC respects your privacy and handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and other applicable health-records laws. Health information is sensitive information and receives additional protection.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • identity and contact details, such as your name, email address and telephone number
  • appointment, billing and payment information
  • health information that you provide during clinical care or that is lawfully provided by another health practitioner
  • correspondence, consent records and enquiries
  • technical information such as IP address, browser type, request logs and website security data.

Our public enquiry form is intended for general enquiries. Please do not include sensitive health information in that form.

3. Why we collect information

We collect personal information where reasonably necessary to respond to enquiries, arrange and provide health services, communicate with you, manage accounts and records, meet legal and professional obligations, maintain website security and improve administration. If required information is not provided, we may be unable to respond or provide a requested service.

4. How we collect information

We generally collect information directly from you through forms, telephone calls, email, appointments and clinical interactions. With your consent or where authorised by law, we may also receive information from a referring practitioner, hospital, insurer, representative or another person involved in your care.

5. Use and disclosure

We use or disclose information for the purpose for which it was collected, related purposes you would reasonably expect, purposes you consent to, or where required or authorised by law. Recipients may include treating practitioners, hospitals, pathology or imaging providers, insurers, professional advisers and contracted technology or administrative service providers. We do not sell personal information.

6. Technology providers and overseas processing

This website uses Cloudflare for hosting, security and delivery, and may use Resend to deliver enquiry emails. These providers may process information in the United States and other countries where their global infrastructure or subprocessors operate. Locations can change as provider infrastructure changes. We take reasonable steps when selecting and managing providers, but overseas recipients may be subject to different privacy laws.

7. Website data and cookies

Our hosting and security providers may automatically process IP addresses, device details and request logs to deliver and protect the website. We do not currently use advertising cookies or publish patient tracking pixels. If analytics or marketing technologies are introduced, this policy and any required consent controls should be updated.

8. Security and retention

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No internet transmission is completely secure. Records are retained for as long as reasonably required for care, administration and legal or professional record-keeping obligations, then securely destroyed or de-identified where appropriate.

9. Access and correction

You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We may need to verify your identity. Legal exceptions may apply, and a reasonable administrative charge may apply to some access requests, but not to making a request.

10. Privacy complaints

Please contact us first so we can investigate and respond. We aim to address privacy complaints within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
